The Custom Cabinet Process: From First Measurement to Installation Day

Most of the anxiety in a renovation comes from not knowing what happens next. Here is our process, step by step, with the timelines we quote before a contract is signed. For a typical kitchen, the full journey runs about six to ten weeks.
Step 1 — Consultation (day 1)
We talk through what you cook, what you store, what you dislike about your current kitchen, and your budget range. Photos or rough measurements of your space are enough to start. This conversation is free and there is no obligation to continue.
Step 2 — On-site measurement (week 1)
We visit your home and measure everything precisely — walls, ceiling height, window and door positions, plumbing and electrical locations. Custom cabinetry is built to the millimetre, and this visit is where expensive surprises are prevented.
Step 3 — Design and quote (weeks 1–2)
You receive a layout, material and colour selections, and an itemized quote. This is the stage to change your mind: door style, hardware, storage inserts and countertop choices are all locked in here, before anything is cut.
Step 4 — Production (weeks 3–7)
Your cabinets are built in our Scarborough workshop. Panels are cut on our CNC machines for exact repeatability, edges are sealed with automated edge-banding, and doors are finished in your chosen colour. Because production is in-house, we control quality at every panel — and if something is off, it is fixed before it reaches your home, not after.
Step 5 — Installation (2–5 days for most kitchens)
Our install crew fits the cabinets, levels everything, aligns door fronts and gaps, and fits hardware. A typical kitchen installs in two to five days depending on size and whether countertops are templated after the base cabinets are in.
Step 6 — Walkthrough and aftercare
We walk the finished kitchen with you, adjust anything that needs a final tweak, and explain care for your finishes. Then it is yours — backed by a local company that has been at the same Scarborough address since 2003, so aftercare never means chasing a contractor who has vanished. If anything ever needs adjustment, you call one number: (416) 298-0711.
